Othello
The Moor of Venice
Directed by Jon Ciccarelli
Sponsored by Friends of Boothe Memorial Park and Stratford Library
“O, beware, my lord, of jealousy;
It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock
The meat it feeds on.”
A celebrated general in the Venetian army, Othello has just achieved a secret marriage to Desdemona, the daughter of a powerful senator. But their new life together is quickly threatened when Othello’s trusted ensign, Iago, begins planting seeds of doubt about Desdemona’s loyalty. Through manipulation, lies, and carefully staged deception, Iago turns Othello’s love into suspicion, driving him into a spiral of jealousy that ultimately leads to devastating consequences for everyone involved. Othello is a gripping tragedy of love, trust, and betrayal unraveling at the hands of one of Shakespeare’s most infamous villains.
