ABOUT THE SHOW
This Shakespearean comedy is a silly, slapstick-type romp. Filled with an array of colorful characters and funny pranks. We will be doing 1950's/60's inspired colorful costuming, music, and playing up the sitcom-like situations and comedic bits within this show. This play is written mostly in prose, which, for those who may be new to Shakespeare, means you do not need to stress about the rules of understanding verse! If you are a great character actor looking to get your feet wet with Shakespeare, this is the perfect show for you! And for those with more experience, this is a fun piece to play in. All are welcome to audition.
Short Summary: Falstaff decides to fix his financial woe by seducing the wives of two wealthy merchants. The wives find he sent them identical letters and take revenge by playing tricks on Falstaff when he comes calling. With the help of their husbands and friends, the wives play one last trick in the woods to put Falstaff's mischief to an end.
CASTING
Looking for 14-15 actors of various ages, genders, races, and abilities who are willing to play multiple roles and zany characters. While roles may be written with a certian gender in mind, Shakespeare is flexible. Feel free to audition for any role. We will give a range of ages and gender breaksdowns, but please know that we often cast women in male roles, and vice versa.
SIR JOHN FALSTAFF. (Male, 30's - early 50's.) Loves the ladies, a good brew, and a good time!
PISTOL Follower of Falstaff. (Any gender, age) Firey, fiesty, and devious.

MASTER PAGE, Gentlemen dwelling at Windsor. (Male, 40's - 60's) Protective father, and golden retriever husband.
MISTRESS PAGE, His wife. (Female, 40's - 60) Life of the party. Of the two wives, she is the schemer.

FENTON, a young Gentleman. (Male, 20's) Head over heels in love with Anne. Think of the lead tenor from a musical.

DOCTOR CAIUS, a French Physician.(Male/any gender, 30's - 50's) Knows his way around a rapier. Trying to win the hand of Anne Page. (looking for an actor who can do an over the top french accent)
MISTRESS QUICKLY, Servant to Doctor Caius. (Female, 30's - 40's) Busy-body, in everyone's business, is trying to play matchmaker between Anne and Fenton. Might be flirtatious with Falstaff - but there might be more (wink wink)
JOHN RUGBY, Servant to Doctor Caius. (any age/gender) Always at Dr. Caius' heels!
HOST of the Garter Inn. (Any age/gender) Verbose and accomidating. Invites all in to his Inn for a good time, and good brew.
